(45)Transmission And Rear Axle Housing - Change Oil
- 1. Remove drain plug and allow to drain. Change filter element (see item 37).
- 2. Remove fill plug. Clean and install drain plug.
- 3. Fill to bottom of filler opening. (Refill capacity on page 45.) Clean and install fill plug.
(46)Power Control Housing - Change Oil
- 1. Remove drain plug and allow oil to drain.
- 2. Remove filler opening plug. Clean and install drain plug.
- 3. Remove level plug.
- 4. Fill to bottom of level plug opening. Clean and install plugs.
(47)Power Control Worm And Gear
- 1. Remove drain from housing below operator's compartment. Allow to drain. Clean and install plug.
- 2. Fill through filler opening near clutch pedal. Fill until oil is visible in filler elbow.
(48)Blade Lift Housings - Change Oil
- 1. Remove drain plug from 1 housing each side. Allow to drain. Clean and install plug.
- 2. Remove level and fill plugs. Fill to bottom of level opening. Clean and install plugs.
(49)Center Shift Housing - Change Oil
- 1. Remove drain plug and allow to drain. Clean and install plug.
- 2. Fill to bottom of filler opening. Clean and install plug.
(50)Circle Reverse Housing - Change Oil
- 1. Remove drain plug and allow to drain. Clean plug and install.
- 2. Remove fill plug and fill to bottom of filler opening. Clean and install plug.
(51)Tandem Housings - Change Oil
- 1. Remove 1 drain plug from each side. Allow to drain. Clean and install plugs.
- 2. Remove level plug in side of housings.
- 3. Fill through top access plates. Fill to bottom of level plug (refill capacity on page 44). Clean and install plugs and plates.
140 Only
- 1. Remove 1 drain plug from each side. Allow to drain.
- 2. Install drain plugs and remove combination level gauge and filler Cap.
- 3. Fill to FULL mark on gauge. Install gauge and cap (refill capacity on Page 44).
(52)Front Wheel Bearings - Repack and Adjust
- 1. Raise front wheels and block under axle.
- 2. Remove hub cap bolts and cap.
- 3. Remove cotter pin from locking pin and remove pin.
- 4. Remove axle nut.
- 5. Remove washer.
- 6. Slide wheel out and back to free outer bearing. Remove washer and bearing.
- 7. Remove wheel from axle. Use a sling and hoist.
- 8. Clean axle and inner bearings. Inspect bearing.
- 9. Clean wheel bearing, washer, pin and nut. Inspect bearings.
- 10. Clean bearing surfaces and cavity of wheel.
- 11. Pack wheel bearings with grease. Work grease in around bearing rollers.
- 12. Inspect grease seal. Use new one if necessary.
- 13. Inspect nut to make certain threads are in good condition.
- 14. Install wheel on axle.
- 15. Install bearing. Make sure bearing has plenty of grease.
- 16. Install washer and nut.
- 17. Tighten nut until wheel seizes when turned by hand.
- 18. Back nut off 1/6 turn. Make sure wheel turns freely.
- 19. Install nut locking pin and cotter pin. Make sure wheel still turns freely. Install hub cap.
(53)Circle Drawbar Ball And Socket - Adjust
- 1. Raise blade off ground and pry drawbar forward as far as possible.
- 2. Measure clearance between drawbar ball and cap. Clearance should not be over .062 inch (1,57 mm).
- 3. To adjust, remove cap bolts and slide cap back.
- 4. Cut shim or shims, as required, and remove.
- 5. Install and tighten cap bolts.
- 6. Check clearance. Repeat steps 3, 4 and 5 if clearance is over .062 inch (1,57 mm).
(54)Flywheel Clutch - Adjust
- 1. Maintain clutch pedal travel of 1-7/8 inch (47 mm) to 2 inch (50 mm).
- 2. Adjust clearance between clutch levers and release bearing thrust ring to maintain free travel.
- 3. Remove clutch housing inspection hole cover bolts.
- 4. Remove cover.
- 5. Remove cotter pins from adjusting nuts and screws.
- 6. Turn each adjusting nut in (clockwise) until levers tough thrust ring.
- 7. Back nut off to obtain .12 ± .02 (3,0 ± 0,5 mm).
- 8. Check clearance between levers and ring. All levers must have same clearance.
- 9. Check pedal free play. Install cotter pins in nuts and screws. Install cover.
(55)Engine Valve Lash - Check and Adjust
Check valve lash when engine is stopped. No. 112 will have valve No's 1 through 4.
- 1. Remove rocker arm covers. Check valve lash and adjust if necessary (See page 31).
- 2. Remove plug from flywheel housing. Turn flywheel to close No. 1 inlet and exhaust valves and allow timing bolt to be inserted. Turn engine slowly when installing bolt. Do not use starting motor.
- 3. No. 120 & 140: Check lash at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 inlet valves. Check lash of No. 1, No. 3 and No. 5 exhaust valves.
No. 112: Check lash of No. 1 and No. 2 inlet valves. Check lash of No. 1 and No. 3 exhaust valves.
Adjust valves if necessary (See page 31).
- 4. Remove bolt and turn flywheel 360° to close No. 6 exhaust and inlet valves of the No. 120 & 140 or No. 4 valves of No. 112. Insert bolt.
- 5. No. 120 & 140: Check lash of No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 inlet valves. Check lash of No. 2, No. 4 and No. 6 exhaust valves.
No. 112: Check lash of No. 3 and No. 4 inlet valves. Check lash of No. 2 and No. 4 exhaust valves.
Adjust valves if necessary.
- 6. Remove bolt from flywheel and install plug in flywheel housing.
- 7. Start engine and run at low idle. Check valve rotators. If valves do not rotate, see your AVSpare dealer.
- 8. Stop engine and install valve cover. Tighten bolts to 6 to 10 lb. ft. (0,83 to 1,39 mkg), in sequence shown. DO NOT overtighten.
To Adjust Valve Lash:
- 1. Loosen adjusting screw locknut.
- 2. Turn adjusting screw in to close gap, out to open gap (see page 29 for correct lash).
- 3. Hold adjusting screw with screwdriver and tighten locknut.
- 4. Recheck adjustment.
- 5. Remove bolt from flywheel and install plug in flywheel housing.
- 6. Install rocker arm cover (see page 30 for correct bolt tightening sequence and torque).
