1. Complete 10 Hour Service.
2. Clean batteries and check electrolyte level.
3. Check and service as required:
a. Engine air inlet and exhaust system.
b. Alternator, regulator and battery wiring and connections.
c. Diesel fuel.
d. Water system Y-strainer.
4. Change oil in wheel gear reducers. (After first 50 hours only. Thereafter change every 1000 hours or annually. See the 1000 Hour or Annual Service for procedures.)


NOTICE

DO NOT SMOKE OR HAVE AN OPEN FLAME WHEN NEAR TO BATTERIES.


Cleaning Batteries

1. Mix a solution of baking soda and water (1/4 pound to a quart of water). Apply the solution with a bristle brush.
2. Thoroughly rinse battery and battery box with clean water.
3. Apply grease to battery cable clamps and terminals and to all threads.

NOTE: BE CAREFUL TO KEEP ANY OF THE BAKING SODA FROM GETTING INTO THE BATTERY CELLS.

Checking Battery Electrolyte Level

1. Maintain electrolyte level to base of each vent well.
2. Make-up water must be one of following (in order of preference):
a. Distilled water
b. Odorless, tasteless drinking water
c. Iron free water
d. Any available water

Checking Engine Air Inlet And Exhaust System

Check all clamps, bolts and ducting on the engine air inlet and exhaust system and service as necessary to prevent any leaks and to ensure that the air cleaner is securely mounted.

Checking Alternator, Regulator And Battery Wiring And Connections

Visually check the engine wiring for damage such as broken insulation and frayed wires. Check for loose or corroded connections. Repair as necessary.

Checking The Diesel Fuel

1. Close the fuel shutoff valve at the bottom of the fuel tank, remove the fuel return hose and attach another hose to the valve.
2. Drain at least one pint of fuel into a clear glass bottle and visually check it for sediment and water. If sediment and/or water are present, drain fuel until it is clear. If excessive amounts of sediment and/or water are present, completely drain the tank and refill it with clean fuel.
3. Close the fuel shutoff valve and replace the fuel return line.
4. Open the shutoff valve.

Checking Water System Y-Strainer

1. Drain the water tank.
2. Remove the bushing and ball valve as a unit from the strainer.
3. Remove the screen from the strainer and thoroughly clean it in water. If necessary, use soap or detergent.
4. Reinstall the screen, bushing and valve.
