1. Check the pump drive gearbox oil level.
2. Check battery electrolyte level and clean the batteries, if needed.
3. Check electrical connections and wiring.
4. Check track tension.
5. Check track pads.
6. Lubricate those points shown in the 100 hour column of the service chart.

Checking Pump Drive Gearbox Oil Level

------ WARNING! ------

SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN AND REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH BEFORE CHECKING OIL LEVELS. ACCIDENTAL ENGAGEMENT OF THE PUMP DRIVE GEARBOX OR CONVEYOR COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURIES.

------WARNING!--------
1. Remove the check plug.
2. Add oil, if necessary, to bring the level up to the check plug port.
3. Replace the check plug.

Checking Battery Electrolyte Level

------ WARNING! ------

DO NOT SMOKE OR HAVE AN OPEN FLAME WHEN NEAR BATTERIES. HYDROGEN GAS FROM THE BATTERY COULD IGNITE AND CAUSE SERIOUS BURNS, OR INJURIES FROM FLYING PARTICLES.

------WARNING!--------
1. Shut the engine down and turn the battery switch to "Off".
2. Maintain electrolyte level at the base of each vent well.
3. Make-up water must be one of following (in order of preference):
a. Distilled water.
b. Odorless, tasteless drinking water.
c. Iron free water.
d. Any available water.
4. Turn the battery switch to "On".

Cleaning Batteries

------ WARNING! ------

DO NOT SMOKE OR HAVE AN OPEN FLAME WHEN NEAR BATTERIES. HYDROGEN GAS FROM THE BATTERY COULD IGNITE AND CAUSE SERIOUS BURNS, OR INJURIES FROM FLYING PARTICLES.

------WARNING!--------
1. Shut the engine down and turn the battery switch to "Off".

NOTE: BE CAREFUL TO KEEP ANY OF THE BAKING SODA FROM GETTING INTO THE BATTERY CELLS. THE BAKING SODA CAN RUIN THE BATTERY.

2. Mix a solution of baking soda and water (1/4 pound to a quart of water). Apply the solution to the batteries, battery box and cable clamps with a bristle brush.
3. Thoroughly rinse the battery and battery box with clean water.
4. Apply grease to the battery cable clamps and terminals and to all threads.
5. Turn the battery switch to "On".

Checking Electrical Connections And Wiring

------ WARNING! ------

SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN AND TURN THE BATTERY SWITCH TO "OFF" BEFORE CHECKING THE CONNECTIONS AND WIRING. THE ALTERNATOR DRIVE SYSTEM CAN CAUSE PERSONAL INJURY. SHORTING OF HOT WIRES CAN CAUSE BODILY BURNS AND DAMAGE THE ALTERNATOR.

------WARNING!--------
1. Check for loose, broken or corroded connections.
2. Check wiring insulation for breaks, cracks, fraying or other defects.
3. Repair or replace components as necessary to maintain tight, uncorroded connections and sound wiring.
4. Turn the battery switch to "On".

Checking Track Tension

------ WARNING! ------

SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN AND REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH BEFORE WORKING ON A TRACK. ACCIDENTAL ENGAGEMENT OF THE TRACK COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURIES.

------WARNING!--------
1. Remove the plate from the track frame.
2. Thoroughly clean the fitting on the tensioner cylinder so that no dirt will be forced into the cylinder.
3. Block the mainframe up as necessary to allow the track assembly to be lifted off the ground. Lift the track assembly off the ground by moving the elevation control for the track to "Lower".

------ WARNING! ------

BLOCK THE RAISED TRACK UP BELOW THE DRIVE SPROCKET AND IDLER SO THE TRACK CANNOT FALL IF THE ELEVATION CYLINDER OR A HOSE FAILS.

------WARNING!--------
4. Mechanically remove any slack from the top of the track.

5. Measure between the tread face of the center track roller and the contact face of the chain link directly below the roller. The distance should be 3/4 inch to 1 inch.

------ WARNING! ------

LOOSEN THE FITTING ON THE TRACK TENSIONER CYLINDER ONLY ENOUGH TO ALLOW GREASE TO FLOW FROM THE WEEP HOLE. IF THE FITTING IS LOOSENED TOO MUCH, THE PRESSURE IN THE CYLINDER WILL BLOW THE FITTING OFF LIKE A SHOT.

------WARNING!--------
6. If the measurement is too large, attach a high pressure grease gun to the fitting on the tensioner cylinder and add grease until the correct measurement is obtained. If the measurement is too small, loosen the fitting, allow grease to flow out of the cylinder until the correct measurement is obtained, then tighten the fitting.
7. Lower the track, raise the mainframe and remove the blocks from under it.
8. Install the plate on the track frame.

Checking Track Pads

------ WARNING! ------

SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN AND REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH BEFORE WORKING ON A TRACK. ACCIDENTAL ENGAGEMENT OF THE TRACK COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURIES.

------WARNING!--------

Visually check each track pad and replace any pads that are bent or broken. When installing a new pad, liberally grease the nuts and bolts and tighten them to 110 ± 5 ft.-lbs. of torque.

Tighten all track pad nuts and bolts to 140 ± 10 ft.-lbs. DO NOT TIGHTEN ANY FRESHLY GREASED NUTS AND BOLTS TO THIS TORQUE. INSTEAD, USE THE TORQUE GIVEN ABOVE FOR INSTALLING NEW PADS.
