PR-1000 PAVEMENT PROFILER Travel Caterpillar

Travel
`

1. Travel controls - control the machine travel speed and direction (forward or reverse) by adjusting the swashplate tilt angle of the track drive pump. These controls should be at "N" whenever the engine is started or the machine is parked. Either control can be used to adjust the travel speed.

------ WARNING! ------

BE SURE THE TRAVEL CONTROL IS AT "N" BEFORE MOVING THE EMERGENCY AND PARK BRAKE CONTROL TO "OFF" OR THE MACHINE WILL LUNGE FORWARD OR BACKWARD.

------WARNING!--------
2. Emergency and park brake control - engages or disengages the park brake on the front track if the primary engine (engine B) is running. If the engine is not running or the control (auxiliary) hydraulic system pressure falls below 180 PSI, the brake will automatically engage. Setting the control at "Off" directs auxiliary hydraulic pressure to the brake to release it. Setting the control at "On" relieves the pressure and engages the brake. the brake.
3. Track pressure gauge - shows the hydraulic oil pressure in the track drive system in pounds per square inch (PSI). The pressure will vary from 0 to 4500 PSI, the pump pressure override control setting. The normal pressure when travelling at maximum speed with both overdrive controls at "On" (see items 4 and 5) is 2000 PSI. The normal pressure when cutting at the maximum production rate (using full cutter engine horsepower) is 3300 to 3500 PSI.

NOTICE

CUTTING WITH THE OVERDRIVE CONTROLS (ITEMS 4 AND 5) AT "ON" WILL CAUSE HIGHER THAN NORMAL TRACK PRESSURES. SUSTAINED OPERATION WITH TRACK PRESSURE ABOVE 3500 PSI WILL DRASTICALLY SHORTEN THE LIFE OF THE TRACK GEAR REDUCERS.

------ WARNING! ------

THE REAR OVERDRIVE CONTROL (ITEM 4) MUST BE AT "OFF WHENEVER OPERATING UP OR DOWN GRADES IN EXCESS OF 8 PERCENT. THE FRONT TRACK OVERDRIVE CONTROL (ITEM 4) MUST BE AT "ON" WHEN LOADING THE MACHINE ONTO A TRAILER FOR TRANSPORTING.

------WARNING!--------
4. Front track overdrive control - turns the front track overdrive "On" or "Off". When this control is at "Off", the front track motor control plate is at maximum tilt (25°) to provide maximum torque. When the control is at "On", the front track motor control plate is at minimum tilt (10°) to provide maximum speed.
5. Rear overdrive control - same as the front track overdrive control, except controls both rear track motor control plates.
