Track Drive Hydraulic System
- 1. Throttle lever - sets the speed of engine A.
- 2. Ignition switch - turns electrical power to the engine, engine controls and engine instruments on ("Ignition" position), or "Off".
- 3. Preheat/starter switch - energizes the glow plugs and starters when moved to "Start". Energizes only the glow plugs when moved to preheat, to aid in cold weather starting.
Show/hide tableNOTICE NEVER USE THE GLOW PLUGS WHEN THE ENGINE IS WARM AND RUNNING.
- 4. Oil pressure gauge - shows the engine oil pressure in pounds per square inch (PSI). The normal range is 60 to 80 PSI with the engine at high idle and at operating temperature. A lower pressure is normal at low idling speeds.
- 5. Water temperature gauge - shows the engine coolant temperature in degrees Fahrenheit (°F). The normal range is 165°F to 210°F.
- 6. Tachometer - shows the engine speed in revolutions per minute (RPM). Low idle speed should be approximately 650 RPM and high idle approximately 2250 RPM.
- 7. Rack light - lights up when the cutter engine is operating at full power. The greatest machine production is obtained when this light is on, the cutter engine is at 2100 RPM and the track hydraulic pressure is between 3300 and 3500 PSI.
- 8. Exhaust temperature gauge - shows the temperature of the cutter engine exhaust gases in degrees Fahrenheit (°F). The temperature should range from 825°F to 975°F with the engine working at full capacity at 2100 RPM. If the temperature exceeds 975°F, the load on the engine should be reduced by decreasing the depth of cut and/or slowing the travel speed.
- 9. Emergency battery disconnect switch - activates a solenoid in the main battery switch to open the main battery switch (see page 3-13) and, at the same time, shut both engines down. The main battery switch must be manually reset after the emergency battery disconnect switch has been used (see page 3-13).
- 10. Service meter - shows the total number of "units" the engine has run, which indicates when service is required on the engine. A "unit" is a combination of the length of time the engine has run and the speed at which the engine was run. Eight hours of operation at a high speed will accumulate more "units" than eight hours of operation at a low speed.
- 11. Fuel filter gauge - shows the condition of the engine fuel filters. As either the primary fuel filter element or the final fuel filter elements gradually become clogged with foreign material, the fuel gauge indicator will work back from the original position in the "Normal" (green or approximately 30 PSI) range to the "Out" (red or approximately 20 PSI) range. See page 5-28 for action to be taken if the gauge registers in the "Out" range.
- 2. Ignition switch - turns electrical power to the engine, engine controls and engine instruments on ("Ignition" position), or "Off".
