1. Check and service as required:
a. Engine air inlet and exhaust systems.
b. Fuel tank sediment.
c. Tension in drive chains for ground drive and conveyor drives. (After first 50 hours only. See "400 Hour Service" for procedures.)
d. Drag conveyor chain adjustment. (After first 50 hours only. See "400 Hour Service" for procedures.)
2. Check the alternator, regulator and battery wiring and connections.
3. Clean the battery and check the electrolyte level.
4. Lubricate those points shown in the 50 hour column of the Lubrication Chart.

Checking The Engine Air Inlet And Exhaust Systems

Check all clamps, bolts and ducting on the engine air inlet and exhaust systems and service as necessary to prevent any leaks and to ensure that the air cleaner and muffler are securely mounted.

Checking The Fuel Tank For Sediment

1. Close the shutoff valve in the return line and disconnect the hose from the valve.
2. Open the valve and allow the fuel to drain until clear of water and sediment.
3. Close the valve and connect the hose to it.
4. Open the valve.

Checking The Alternator, Regulator And Battery Wiring And Connections

Visually check the wiring for damage such as broken insulation and frayed wires. Check for loose or corroded connections. Repair as necessary.

Cleaning The Battery

1. Mix a weak solution of baking soda and water. Apply the solution with a bristle brush.
2. Thoroughly rinse the battery and battery box with clean water.
3. Apply grease to the battery cable clamps and terminals and to all threads.


NOTICE

BE CAREFUL TO KEEP ANY OF THE BAKING SODA FROM GETTING INTO THE BATTERY CELLS OR THE BATTERY WILL BE DAMAGED.


Checking Battery Electrolyte Level

1. Maintain electrolyte level to base of each vent well.
2. Make-up water must be one of following (in order of preference):
a. Distilled water.
b. Odorless, tasteless drinking water.
c. Iron free water.
d. Any available water.
