- 1. Check and service as required:
- a. Tension in drive chains for the ground drive and conveyor drives.
- b. Drag conveyor chain adjustment.
- 2. Change the engine final fuel filter element.
- 3. Clean the engine fuel lift pump sediment chamber.

Each drag conveyor has a take-up bearing mounted on each end of the front take-up shaft. A take-up rod, threaded into the take-up bearing, extends through a plate at the front of the hopper and has a sleeved adjusting nut threaded onto the take-up rod.
Adjust each drag conveyor separately. Turn the adjusting nuts for the drag conveyor alternately and evenly until the proper chain tension as shown on page 5-28a is obtained.

- 2. Holding the filter base, unscrew the bolt in the center of the filter head and lower the base and filter element. Discard the filter element.
- 3. Thoroughly clean the filter head and base.
- 4. Inspect the sealing rings and renew them if they are damaged in any way.
- 5. Place the base squarely on the bottom of the new filter element and move the element squarely up to the filter head so the top rim of the element is centered against the sealing ring in the filter head.
- 6. Hold the base and filter element in position while installing and tightening the bolt.
- 7. Bleed the fuel system (see "Bleeding the Fuel System" on page 5-24).

- 1. Remove the fuel lift pump cover and pulsator diaphragm cover.
- 2. Clean the sediment chamber and check the diaphragm for condition.
- 3. Refit the diaphragm and cover. Tighten the securing screw just enough to make a tight sealing joint.
- 4. Prime the fuel system (see page 5-24).
