No clearance for person in this area when bucket control group lowers. Severe injury or death from crushing could occur. Be sure that the bucket control group safety pins are installed before working under or near the bucket control group.

NOTICE

Before operating the machine, be sure the bucket control group safety pins are removed and put in the stored position. Damage to the front frame and to the lift arm can result if the machine is operated with the bucket control group safety pins installed in the lift arm.


The bucket control group safety pins are located on both sides of the lift arm. Install the bucket control group safety pins before performing service work in the bucket control group area of the machine.

  1. Park the machine on a flat, level surface in a straight ahead position.

  1. Engage the parking brake.

  1. Raise lift arm (1) until the safety pin bore can be aligned with the front frame tower.

  1. Pull and hold back retaining pin (3). Turn safety pin handle (2) counterclockwise (clockwise for the right side bucket control group safety pin), then push the safety pin assembly fully into the lift arm assembly as shown. Release the retaining pin to lock the safety pin in position.

  1. Repeat Step 4 for the right side bucket control group safety pin.

  1. Lower the lift arm until the safety pins contact the front frame tower.

  1. Move the bucket to the fully dumped position.

    Note: The following steps are for the removal of the bucket control group safety pins.

  1. Raise lift arm (1) until the safety pins are above both sides of the front frame tower.

  1. Pull and hold back retaining pin (3). Using safety pin handle (2), pull the safety pin assembly out from the lift arm assembly. Turn safety pin handle (2) clockwise (counterclockwise for the right side bucket control group safety pin). Release the retaining pin to lock the safety pin in position.

    Note: Move safety pin handle (2) from side to side to ensure the bucket control group safety pin is firmly held by retaining pin (3) .

  1. Repeat Step 9 for the right side bucket control group safety pin.

  1. Lower the bucket to the ground.
