A safe operating distance in accordance with mine practice must be maintained between the machine and the operator and transmitter. Operating the machine within an unsafe distance can be dangerous and could result in severe injury or death. |

Before using the machine on remote control do a walk around inspection. Check levels of oil and water and check for leaks and damage.
Operate the machine manually to ensure that all controls operate normally and the brakes operate effectively.
Always ensure no personnel are near the machine or in the area where the machine will be operating while it is on remote control.
Under no circumstances should any service work or testing and adjusting be carried out on the machine while the machine is operating on remote control.
- Park the machine in a convenient and safe location to start remote control operation.
- Shift the transmission direction and speed control to the NEUTRAL position. On STIC steering machines, move the steering and transmission lock control to the locked position. On wheel steering machines, engage the transmission neutral lock.
- Engage the parking brake.

- Lower the bucket and move the hydraulic controls to the HOLD position.
- Stop the engine.
- Turn the engine start switch to the ON position.

- Move remote control switch (3) to the upper position to turn on the remote control system. Red light (4) on the engine hood will light up and stay on until the brakes are released by the remote control system.

- Move front and rear light switches (1) and (2) down to turn the lights off. Ensure the machine does not move. Leave the machine.
- Position the remote control transmitter in a safe location, away from where the machine will be operating on remote control.

- Connect a 12 volt battery or other 12V DC power source to the transmitter. Push parking brake switch (7) up to the ON position (brakes engaged).
- Turn clockwise and pull up on remote shutdown switch (5) to turn on the transmitter. LED indicator (5) will light up when the transmitter is turned on. The machine is now ready for remote control operation.
