Eccentric Weight Housing Oil - Change
`
1.1. Change the Oil
2.1. Flush the Housing

Change the Oil

  1. Take an oil sample from each eccentric weight housing. There is an eccentric weight housing in the left front drum. There is an eccentric weight housing in the right rear drum. No flushing is necessary, if the oil sample cleanliness rating is equal or lower than ISO 23/21. The flushing procedure should be performed if an oil sample cleanliness rating is higher than ISO 23/21.

  1. Rotate the drum so that fill/drain plug (1) is at the bottom. Place a suitable container under fill/drain plug (1). Remove fill/drain plug (1). Drain the housing completely.

    Illustration 2g00946405

  1. Rotate the drum until the welded item (2) is at the bottom of the drum. The sight gauge (3) should be at the bottom of the housing. This will move the fill/drain plug (1) to the upper position.

  1. Fill the housing with oil. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubrication Viscosities" and Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)". Maintain the level of the oil to the middle of the sight gauge.

  1. Clean fill/drain plug (1) and install fill/drain plug (1) .

Flush the Housing

------ WARNING! ------

Crush Hazard! Machine movement while making adjustments can cause injury or death.

Shut off engine and remove key before making adjustments.

Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for the proper adjustment procedures.

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "AVSpare Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in AVSpare machines.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

The flushing procedure should be used after the eccentric weight housing has been opened up for repair.

There are two eccentric weight housings. There is one eccentric weight housing in the front drum. There is one eccentric weight housing in the rear drum.

  1. Drain the oil from the eccentric weight housing.

  1. Pump 76 L (20 US gal) of a suitable hydraulic oil into a 208 L (55 US gal) drum.

    Typical example

  1. Raise the machine. The drums must not be in contact with the ground or the floor. Support the machine on stands.

  1. Start the engine. Release the parking brake and rotate the drum until sight gauge (3) is at the top of the housing. Remove sight gauge (3). Install the fitting assembly that is appropriate for your machine.

Note: The following steps are for machines that are equipped with a STOR oil filler plug.

  1. Assemble the 126-7187 Adapter (11) into the male end of the 5R-3796 Quick Coupling Assembly (10). Install the adapter into the hole for the sight glass. Assemble the 8T-0198 Seal Connector (8) onto the female end of the 5R-3796 Quick Coupling Assembly (9). Attach the female end of quick coupler (9) to the suction hose of the transfer cart (7) .

  1. Rotate the drum until indicator (2) is at the bottom of the drum. The male end of the quick disconnect plug will be located at the six o'clock position.

  1. Open the filler plug to the ten o'clock position.

  1. Connect the transfer cart. Fill the housing with 22 L (6 US gal) gallons of clean oil. Disconnect the transfer cart.

  1. Tighten the filler plug at the ten o'clock position.

  1. Run the first flush cycle.

    1. Adjust the amplitude setting wheel to the low position on both drums.

    1. Start the engine. Release the brake.

    1. Set the travel speed control to low speed. In order to rotate the drum, move the propel control lever.

    1. Use the switch for the vibratory mode control in order to select the desired drum.

    1. Select the Manual position on the vibratory control switch.

    1. Turn on the vibratory system. Run the vibratory system for 5 seconds. Turn off the vibratory system. Repeat the cycle for three minutes.

Note: For each cycle, do not run the vibratory system more than 5 seconds.

    1. Stop the drum. Rotate the drum until indicator (2) is at the bottom of the drum. The male end of the quick disconnect will be located at the six o'clock position.

    1. Apply the parking brake. Shut off the engine. Remove the key.

  1. Open the filler plug at the ten o'clock position.

  1. Install the transfer cart. Pump the oil out of the housings. Disconnect the transfer cart. Cycle the oil through the filter for 30 minutes. Cycle the oil until the oil is cleaned to a rating of ISO 18/13 or better.

  1. Install the transfer cart to the housings. Pump the oil into the housings. For the second cycle, repeat 7 through 13. After the second cycle, take an oil sample before filtering the oil. No further flushing is necessary, if the oil sample rating is equal or lower than ISO 19/16. Another flushing is necessary, if the oil sample rating is higher than ISO 19/16.

  1. When the flushing is complete, rotate the drum until indicator (2) is at the bottom of the drum. Place a suitable container under the fitting assembly. In order to drain all the oil, raise the vibratory motor side of the drum higher. Remove the fitting assembly. Drain as much of the oil as possible.

  1. Clean the sight gauge. Install sight gauge (3) .

    Illustration 6g00946406

  1. Remove filler plug (1) at the ten o'clock position.

  1. Fill the housing with oil. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubrication Viscosities" and Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)". Maintain the level of the oil to the middle of the sight gauge.

  1. Clean the filler plug. Install filler plug (1) .

Note: The new oil must have a particle count of ISO 19/16 or better than ISO 19/16.
