Cleaning the Compression Brake{1129}

- Engine:
- C15 (S/N: NXS1-UP; MXS1-UP)
- Articulated Truck:
- 735 (S/N: B1N1-UP)
- 740 (S/N: B1P1-UP)
- 740 EJECTOR (S/N: B1R1-UP)
- 740 (S/N: B1P1-UP)
Introduction
Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you have read the Special Instruction and you understand the information.
Procedure
- Remove the brake unit for the engine. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR9403 for S/N:NXS and ; S/N:MXS. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR8261 for S/N:B1N, ; S/N:B1P and ; S/N:B1R
- Insert a bolt, two washers and a nut through the oil feed hole (1) in order to plug the hole.

- Clean the top of the solenoid (2) .
- When the solenoid is clean and the solenoid is dry, apply tape in order to cover the solenoid.
- Clean the master pistons (3) and the slave pistons (5) .

- Cover the pistons with tape. Cover the machined area around the pistons with tape.
- Cover the bottom of the solenoid with tape.
- Spray the rusted areas with 222-3121 RUST PREVENTIVE . Scrub the rusted areas with a wire brush or with a wire wheel.
- Repeat Step 8 until the housing is clean.
- Wipe the housing in order to avoid contamination from entering the solenoid, the slave piston or the master piston.
- Remove the tape.
- Remove the bolt, the nut and the washers.
- Reinstall the compression brake. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR9403.
