Cleaning the Compression Brake{1129}

Engine:
C15 (S/N: NXS1-UP; MXS1-UP)
Articulated Truck:
735 (S/N: B1N1-UP)
740 (S/N: B1P1-UP)
740 EJECTOR (S/N: B1R1-UP)

Introduction

Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you have read the Special Instruction and you understand the information.

Procedure

  1. Remove the brake unit for the engine. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR9403 for S/N:NXS and ; S/N:MXS. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR8261 for S/N:B1N, ; S/N:B1P and ; S/N:B1R

    Top side of the compression brake.

    (1) Oil feed hole

    (2) solenoid

  1. Insert a bolt, two washers and a nut through the oil feed hole (1) in order to plug the hole.

  1. Clean the top of the solenoid (2) .

  1. When the solenoid is clean and the solenoid is dry, apply tape in order to cover the solenoid.

  1. Clean the master pistons (3) and the slave pistons (5) .

  1. Cover the pistons with tape. Cover the machined area around the pistons with tape.

  1. Cover the bottom of the solenoid with tape.

  1. Spray the rusted areas with 222-3121 RUST PREVENTIVE . Scrub the rusted areas with a wire brush or with a wire wheel.

  1. Repeat Step 8 until the housing is clean.

  1. Wipe the housing in order to avoid contamination from entering the solenoid, the slave piston or the master piston.

  1. Remove the tape.

  1. Remove the bolt, the nut and the washers.

  1. Reinstall the compression brake. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR9403.
