PROBLEM
The cab tilt cable can interfere with the cab riser structural crossmember, when the cab is in the transport (tilted) position, on certain 548 LL, 558 LL, and 568 LL Forestry Excavators, equipped with a rear entry cab. The cab tilt cable may fray and eventually fail due to rubbing of the cable on the crossmember. Note: Interference between the cab riser crossmember and cab tilt cable occurs only when the cab is in the transport position. |

Inspect the cab tilt cable for fouling with the cab riser crossmember. With the rear entry cab in the transport, fully tilted position and the tilt cable pulled taut, check for interference between the cable and crossmember. Refer to Image1.1.1. - If NO fouling is found between the cab tilt cable and crossmember, no further rework is required. - If fouling is found between the cab tilt cable and crossmember, proceed with rework of the cab riser crossmember below. |

1. Remove material from the crossmember as shown in Images1.2.1 and 1.2.2. The angular grinding should provide adequate clearance and eliminate contact between the cab riser crossmember and the cab tilt cable when the cab is in the transport (fully tilted) position. Note: The dimensions shown are in units of millimeters. The angular measurement is in units of degrees. Note: Do NOT grind any weld. |
