ACTION REQUIRED
The improved tandem chain with consistent hardness results in more fatigue resistance and increases the service life of assembled chain. The updated tandem chains are marked with ?XDO? OR ?AAK? OR have the Cat trademark. These updated chains were introduced in some of the machines listed above, and fully used in production machines built after the machines listed above. In case of chain failure: 1. Always replace both chains in a tandem housing at the same time since chains will stretch over time and replacing both will avoid premature overload on a single chain. 2. Make sure updated chains are installed after failure. If any updated chains are found to have failed, work with your contact Dealer Technical Communicator to submit CPI feedback in SIMSi. Use CPI446618 when submitting the feedback. 3. Take a picture of chain date code to attach to the service claim. An example of the date code is shown below in Image1. This date code can be found on the link next to the master link. Note: When re-installing the tandem cover plates, apply Loctite 271 Red or equivalent to bolt threads in order to prevent oil seepage through the threads. |
