PROBLEM
The existing clutch 5 seal can fail on certain 24 Motor Graders. This issue should not affect transmission serial numbers WFR00389 and above. If the existing seal fails it can be detected with the occurrence of Level 1 or Level 2 event codes listed in Image1. If any of the event codes listed in Image1 are logged, additional troubleshooting may be necessary to determine if there is an internal hardware issue. Typical failure modes: 1. Clutch 5 seal bore wear in the 539-0498 Rotation Housing Assembly in Image2 2. Seal fracture of the 488-1435 Seal Ring in Image3 Both failures may lead to a loss of clutch 5 pressure. |
