PL641i Rework Instructions:

Before going to the Customer Site:

1. Refer to REHS9111 installation instructions for all tools to perform the radio installation, as well as familiarity with the installation process.

Note: An Ethernet (425-6889) service tool or a standard Cat5 cable is required to flash the radio. Cat-ET 2019A or newer is required on laptop.

Note: All configuration file part numbers are located at https://dealer.cat.com/en/products/technology/construction-technology/product-link.html Under the tab Sales Support. Click on the guide for config files named Next Gen Hardware Ordering Guide for Construction with Config Files and Lookup. Configuration files for your particular machine are located in SISweb in Service Software Files > Flash Files section. Please verify for any related configuration files for your installation.

2. Download the flash files and any needed configuration files to your laptop for updating the PL641 radio:

At the machine:

3. Locate service connector and connect to asset using Cat Electronic Technician (ET). Generate a pre-device swap Product Status Report (PSR).

4. If the device is a stand-alone PL641 (No Network Manager) then connect to the device with Cat Electronic Technician (ET) and set the Product ID of the PL641 to the default (AVS00000). This step is not needed if PL641 is part of an Elite system.

5. Power down asset and switch master disconnect to OFF. Refer to applicable safety instructions in REHS9111.

6.Perform the device swap using instructions found in REHS9111. Dispose of removed radio per local guidelines.

7. If radio firmware needs to be updated, using Ethernet cable connect to the PL641 via Winflash and perform an update to the firmware on the PL641 using the firmware flash file referred to in Image 1.1.1.

8. For PL641 (Pro) installation, set the Product ID to the asset serial number using Cat ET. This step is not needed if PL641 is part of an Elite system.

9. Using Cat ET, ensure Service Meter Hours (SMH) are correct.

10. While connected via Cat ET, generate a post-swap Product Status Report (PSR).

11. Perform communication check with back office/web through DSP or Service Dashboard prior to leaving asset.
Note: Refer to UENR5824 to troubleshoot any connection issues.

12. If a network manager is present (Elite Installation) then update the network manager software as shown in Image 1.1.1. Select firmware for the Network Manager according to device type by serial number suffix code (See example Image 1.2.1 below) and industry group for asset.

PL042 Rework Instructions:

Before going to the Customer Site:

Note: The PL243 radio device may not have the latest software on-board. Device should have firmware 593-2137 or newer. Please use AVSpare's Product Support Customer Relations Management (PSCRM) system to create a System Technology event type service request (SR). The Inquiry Type needs to be Product Technologies with the Workgroup/Subsystem = Product Link. In the description field, please use FOTA Request and the PL243 software needs to be updated. This will require acknowledgment of Customer consent to proceed with the FOTA prior to submitting to AVSpare.
