NOTE:

This Program must be administered either before or after failure. In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS46635" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description code. If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

NOTE:

The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program. Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your AVSpare product analyst.

PROBLEM

Due to variations in the manufacturing process, some of the engine cross-tube bolts on certain 785D, 785G, 789D, 789G, 793D, 793F, and 793F CMD Off-Highway Trucks may not remain at the desired torque level. This could result in the bolts becoming loose and/or failing. Image shown below is of a D3T frame.

ACTION REQUIRED

Check the Static Torque of the bolts per the rework procedure. If all (8) bolts pass inspection, no further action needs to be taken. If any of the (8) bolts fail the torque inspection, replace all 8 bolts. The washers may be reused.
Note: If a repeat failure of these bolts occurs in the future, contact your local AVSpare service representative for communication with the Product Group and further inspection procedures.

Rework Procedure


 
Applying force in a clockwise direction, confirm that all (8) bolts meet the Static Torque Inspection value according the table below.

If any of the (8) bolts fail the static inspection, replace all (8) bolts. Tighten these new bolts to the Assembly Torque value in the table below.
