TECHNICAL INFORMATION BULLETIN

OFF-HIGHWAY TRUCKS

793 (3SJ),

793B (1HL),

793C (4AR, 4GZ) TRUCKS

Component Code 1063, 1380

SUBJECT: REMANUFACTURED ENGINES WITH FLOATING CORE AFTERCOOLERS

PROBLEM:

Remanufactured engines for these trucks include the new style 210-2590 Floating Core Aftercooler Group. If one of these engines is installed in a truck that had an engine that did not include the new style aftercooler, the engine coolant lines will require modification. The rear outlet of the new style aftercooler is 20 mm higher than the rear outlet of the former aftercooler. This results in misalignment between the rear outlet of the new style aftercooler and the corresponding elbow in the coolant lines.

Note: The information in this TIB is NOT applicable to 793C Trucks with Remanufactured 0R-7586 or 0R-7591 3516 High Displacement Engines.

SOLUTION:

New tube assemblies are required to compensate for the difference in rear outlet height of the aftercoolers. A new tube assembly is not currently available for the 793 and 793B Trucks. Therefore, a temporary solution is required. See the "793 and 793B Truck Temporary Solution" that follows. A new tube assembly is available for 793C Trucks. See the "793C Truck Solution" that follows.
