SUBJECT: THE NEW 212-6590 IDLER WHEELS MAY MAKE CONTACT WITH THE UNDERCARRIAGE SCRAPERS

PROBLEM:

The new 212-6590 Idler Wheels were recently released for increased wheel and track drive lug life. The new outer idler wheels are slightly wider than the former idler wheels and are tapered on the inside to increase the contact area between the drive lug and the idler wheel. Due to the increased width, the new idler wheels may make contact with the undercarriage scrapers during installation and initial operation. See Figure 1.

SOLUTION:

The machine should be operated as normal. Any contact between the new idler wheels and the undercarriage scrapers will be diminished, as the edges of the wheels wear against the undercarriage scraper. Contact between the new idler wheels and the undercarriage scrapers will not cause any machine performance or reliability issues.

Note: Make sure that the new idler wheels are installed with the taper towards the center wheel.
