SUBJECT: Air Filter Restricted Indicator May Illuminate at Low Hours or with Clean Filters

PROBLEM:

There have been some reports that the air filter restricted indicator illuminates at low hours or when the air filters are clean. When the indicator illuminates the engine will de-rate.

The root cause of this problem is not understood at this time. Some dealers have found that removing the black colored sleeve from the inside of the can stops the indicator from illuminating. Removing the sleeve does reduce the restriction but at this time we do not know if this is the true root cause of the problem.

SOLUTION:

Use the AVSpare Electronic Technician Service tool to measure the air filter restriction at high idle and at torque stall. Report your results to one of the people listed below and enter a separate SIMS report for each incident.
