SUBJECT: Accelerator Pedal Hinge Pin

PROBLEM:

On an Accelerator Pedal equipped with a non-metallic hinge pin, there is a possibility that the hinge pin may work itself out of the pin bore. If the non-metallic accelerator pedal hinge pin is out of the pin bore, the accelerator pedal can fall off the platform.

SOLUTION:

First, in order to verify that your machine has a non-metallic hinge pin, observe the failed part.

A new non-metallic accelerator pin (from 140-2962 Treadle Pin Kit) must be inserted from the left side (vehicle operator point of view) of the 139-7738 Pedal Assembly.

If the pin is out of position or has been removed for any reason, ensure that the replacement pin is installed in the correct orientation. Installation force should be sufficient to fully seat the pin. When fully seated, the pin?s retention ridge should travel completely through the cast pedal ear and should be in position to resist removal. When using the 140-2962 Treadle Pin Kit, use the non-metallic pin only. Other parts in the 140-2962 Treadle Pin Kit are not required.
