SUBJECT: Changing Model Designations for Certain Skid Steer Loaders and Multi Terrain Loaders With Electronic Technician May Cause the ECM to Disconnect and Lockout the User

PROBLEM:

The 2003B version of Electronic Technician (ET) does not support the specified models. If the service technician tries to reconfigure the specified machines to the appropriate machine model, the Electronic Control Module will disconnect from ET and lock, effectively keeping itself from communicating with the computer. Once the new version of ET (2004A) is released this should be corrected so that all sales models will be supported within ET.

SOLUTION:

DO NOT REPLACE THE ECM - ECM /Flashfile Software is correct

There are two service options to unlock the ECM.

  • Use ET version 2004A (Anticipated release: April 2004)
  • Flash the ECM (see procedure below)

For a 247, 257, 267, 277, or 287 Multi Terrain Loader:

    1. Flash the ECM using 248-3161 (B-Series software), and then immediately re-flash using 242-6059 (A-Series software).
    2. Once this is completed, configure the machine as needed, for the control handle, and single/two speed. For the appropriate sales model configuration, refer to Table 1.

For a 268B Skid Steer Loader:

  1. Flash the ECM using 242-6059 (A-Series software), and then immediately re-flash using 248-3161 (B-Series software).
  2. Once this is completed, configure the machine, as needed, for the control handle, and single/two speed. For the appropriate sales model configuration, refer to Table 2.
