SUBJECT: HOSE WEAR FOR THE MANUAL LOWERING CONTROL VALVE HOSE MAY BE EXPERIENCED

PROBLEM:

Wearing of the 218-6212 Hose As. may be experienced on certain machines due to the hose contacting the turbocharger and/or the exhaust manifold. See Figure A.

The 218-6212 Hose As. is part of the manual lowering control valve.

SOLUTION:

Inspect the 218-6212 Hose As. and replace the hose, if necessary. Then, reposition the 164-5624 Elbow Gp. to prevent the hose from contacting the turbocharger and the exhaust manifold. This can be accomplished by loosening the elbow, by rotating the elbow counterclockwise to the 9 O?clock position (when viewed from above), and retightening the elbow. See Figure B.

Figure A. The 218-6212 Hose As. can contact the turbocharger and/or the exhaust manifold.

Figure B. Repositioning the 164-5624 Elbow Gp. will increase the clearance between the hose and the turbocharger and/or the exhaust manifold.
