SUBJECT: Sealing for the Machine Electronic Control Module (IQAN)(XP2) and the Machine Electronic Control Module (IQAN)(XT2) Can Be Improved for the Track Feller Bunchers.

PROBLEM:

Some 223-0043 Machine Electronic Control Module (IQAN)(XP2) Modules and 202-5420 Machine Electronic control Module (IQAN)(XT2) Modules may fail due to moisture entry through the LED indicators.

SOLUTION:

Use the following procedure to apply epoxy adhesive to the LED indicators.

1. Remove the two XP2 Modules and one XT2 Module from the machine.

2. Remove surface contaminates such as paint, oxide films, oil, dust, mold release agents and all other surface contaminates from the LED indicators.

3. Use gloves to minimize shin contact. DO NOT use solvents for cleaning hands.

  1. To use simply insert the cartridge into the 143-9510 Applicator and start the plunger into the cylinders using light pressure on the trigger. Next, remove the cartridge cap and expel a small amount of adhesive to be sure both sides are flowing evenly and freely. Then attach the 143-9509 Nozzle Mixer to the end of the cartridge and begin dispensing the adhesive.

5. Position the module at an angle so the LED indicators are horizontal to the table in order to prevent adhesive runoff. See Illustration above.

6. Carefully squeeze the trigger for the 143-9510 Applicator and apply the epoxy to cover completely the area on indicator lights. Allow the epoxy to dry.

7. Allow the epoxy to set-up for at least 30 minutes (until the epoxy surface is not tacky) before you install the modules onto the machine. Before you put the Track Feller Buncher back in service, be sure the epoxy has sufficiently cured for 24 hours for high strength (firm to the touch).
