SUBJECT: Blocked Oil Passages on the 3408, 3408B, 3408C, G3408, G3408C, 3412, 3412C, and G3412 Industrial and Commercial Engines

PROBLEM:

The 9Y-4382 Rocker Arm Shaft Bracket has some oil passages that will not let oil pass through to the rocker arm assembly. This issue was first identified in the engine test cell process at Griffin Power Systems. All affected product has been contained and repaired.

SOLUTION:

A 100% oil passage inspection has been incorporated as part of the standard process. The date code with 100% inspection is 321. It has been determined that a passage with a partial intersection will provide adequate oil flow.

In the event that a unit would experience a valve train failure, and is suspect of having a "blocked" oil passage, please call your Dealer Technical Communicator and reference issue #81098 and the assigned TIB number.
