SUBJECT: Potential Interference on Certain Large Off-Highway Trucks (LOHT) Steering Columns

PROBLEM:

On the above-listed Large Off-Highway Trucks, the bolt that secures the U-joint to the steering column may contact the dash assembly bracket (see Illustration 1). This problem only affects columns that have been replaced since September 2004, or machines built since September 2004.

SOLUTION:

If interference is felt as the steering wheel is rotated, inspect the U-joint and replace the longer U-joint bolts with 205-6388 bolts. Torque the 205-6388 bolts to 101.7 +/- 2.0 Nm (75 +/- 1.5 lb ft). Contact DSN Cab Group (Tier 2) if interference is found.
