SUBJECT: 700 Series Articulated Trucks, Disc Stack-Up Change in the Differential and Bevel Gear Gps, SIS Information has Changed

PROBLEM:

A change has been made to the quantity of discs used in the cross axle differential lock. The new disc stack-up will reduce the load on the reaction pins on the differential lock hub. The reduced load on the pins will stop the pins from loosening in the hub. SIS shows the new arrangement, which is different from machines in the field.

Refer to Table 1 for the differential and bevel gears groups that are affected.

* Note that the part description for Item 3 may be different depending on the differential and bevel gear group being viewed in SIS.

SOLUTION:

When servicing a differential gear group, remove one plate (Item 1) and one friction disc (Item 2) from the side of the clutch that will be nearest the actuation piston (Item 4). Install a second 151-8275 or 151-8281 plate (Item 3) in place of the friction disc and plate.

Refer to Figure 2 and Table 3 for the distribution of plates, friction plates and clutch plates. (This is the configuration that is shown in SIS.)
