SUBJECT: 740 EJECTOR Articulated Truck, Addition of Spacer Plates Avoids Contact Between Ejector Carriages and End Plates
PROBLEM:
The carriages for the ejector blade may contact the end plates at the rear of the upper rail of the ejector body. This may cause damage to the end plates and/or their mounting hardware and, in some cases, has caused the end plates to break off.
The purpose of the end plates is to act as a retaining mechanism to prevent excessive rearward travel of the ejector blade during servicing of the blade and its attaching components (Ejector cylinder, mounting pivot assembly, etc). The carriages are not supposed to contact the end plates during normal operation of the machine.
SOLUTION:
Visually check that the carriages for the ejector blade are not coming into contact with the end plates on the body. This can be done by both checking for paint damage on the carriages and end plates in area where the parts can make contact, and also by moving the ejector blade to the fully ejected position.
If there are any signs of contact, install 15mm thick spacer plates behind the end plates.
