  3. If necessary, lubricate the internal components for the assembly of the engine oil pump with clean engine oil. Install outer rotor (8) and front cover (7) to the housing of engine oil pump (4). Install the allen head bolts (9). Tighten the allen head bolts to a torque of 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  4. Ensure that the dowel (10) and dowel (11) are correctly located in the housing of engine oil pump (4). Position the assembly of the engine oil pump onto the cylinder block.

Note: Ensure that the dowels in the housing of the engine oil pump are aligned with the holes in the cylinder block.

  5. Install bolts (5). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  6. Check the backlash between idler gear (12) and the crankshaft gear. Refer to Specifications, "Gear Group (Front)" for further information.

  7. Install suction pipe (1) and a new gasket (6) to the assembly of the engine oil pump.

  8. Install bolts (2). Tighten the bolts to a torque to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  9. If suction pipe (6), has a support bracket follow dowel 9.a through dowel 9.c.

    1. Install the components of the support bracket. Ensure the correct location and orientation of the bracket and the retaining clip.

    2. Tighten the bolts finger tight in order to align the components of the support bracket.

    3. Tighten bolts (2) to a torque of 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

End By:

  1. Install the engine oil pan. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pan - Install" for the correct procedure.
