Start By:

  1. Remove the boom sheave block. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Boom Sheave Block (Upper) - Remove".
  2. Remove the load sheave block. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Load Sheave Block (Upper) - Remove".

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

  1. Attach a suitable lifting device to boom (1). The weight of boom (1) is approximately 1588 kg (3500 lb).

  1. Remove pin assembly (2). Repeat this Step for the pin assembly on the opposite side.

  1. Remove boom (1) .

  1. Use Tooling (A) in order to remove bushings (3) from both sides of boom (1) .

Installation Procedure

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

  1. Lower the temperature of bushings (3) and install bushings into both sides of boom (1) .

  1. Use a suitable lifting device in order to position boom (1) on the machine. The weight of boom (1) is approximately 1588 kg (3500 lb).

  1. Install pin assembly (2). Repeat this Step for the opposite side of boom (1) .

End By:

  1. Install the load sheave block. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Load Sheave Block (Upper) - Install".
  2. Install the boom sheave block. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Boom Sheave Block (Upper) - Install".
