RR-250 RECLAIMER & SS-250 SOIL STABILIZER VEHICLE SYSTEMS Rotor Drive Assembly

Remove Rotor Drive Assembly

1. Start the engine, shift the rotor axle to low (1), then stop the engine.

2. Place a large, flat piece of scrap material, thick enough to serve as a skid, beneath the rotor assembly.

3. Check that the rotor Auto/Manual switch (2) is set at MANUAL.

4. Start the engine.

5. If the rotor door is open, use the control lever (3) to close the rotor door.

6. Lower the rotor housing onto the scrap material.

7. Continue to lower the rotor assembly until the rear wheels are off the ground.

8. Securely block up the mainframe.

9. Stop the engine.

10. Support the rotor axle drive shaft (4), then remove the mounting bolts and nuts from the rearward flange of the drive shaft.

11. Lower the end of the drive shaft out of the way.

12. Disconnect the electrical wires from the axle shift unit (5).

13. Thoroughly clean around the hydraulic hose connections at the rotor axle, mark the hoses and ports for identification during installation, then disconnect the hoses (6). Cap or plug all openings.

14. Thoroughly clean around the hydraulic hose connections at each rotor lift cylinder and the rotor door lift cylinder. Mark the hoses and ports for identification during installation, then disconnect the hoses (7). Cap or plug all openings.

15. Disconnect the rotor depth indicator (8) from the axle.

16. Unbolt and remove the rod end clevis pins (9) for each outboard rotor lift cylinder.

17. Support each outboard rotor lift cylinder, remove the locking bolt and pin (10) from the head end of the cylinder, then lower the cylinder out of the bracket and move the cylinder away.

18. Unbolt the axle support brackets (11) from the mainframe mounting point (12).

19. Check the area to ensure that there are no hoses, cables, or other components that would interfere with removal of the rotor assembly. If an optional spray system is installed, remove the spraybar (see page 32, step 18).

20. Attach a pulling device to the scrap material.

21. Pull the rotor assembly straight back until the rotor axle is clear of the mainframe.

22. Readjust the pulling device as necessary, then pull the rotor assembly out from under the machine.

Install Rotor Drive Assembly

1. Place the rotor assembly next to the machine on a large, flat piece of scrap material that is thick enough to serve as a skid.

2. Attach a pulling device to the scrap material.

3. Pull the rotor assembly beneath the mainframe with the axle to the rear of the axle mounting point on the mainframe.

4. Readjust the pulling device as necessary, then carefully pull the assembly forward until the axle is resting near the mainframe mounting point (12).

5. Position the head end of each outboard rotor lift cylinder into the bracket and install the pin and locking bolt (10).

6. Install the rod end clevis pins (9) through each outboard lift cylinder clevis and bolt the pins in place.

7. Thoroughly clean around the cylinder ports and hydraulic hose ends, then connect the hoses (7) to the rotor lift cylinders and the rotor door lift cylinder.

8. Check that the rotor Auto/Manual switch (2) is set at MANUAL.

------ WARNING! ------

Raising the rotor too quickly will cause the rotor to swing and possibly cause personal injury. Clear all personnel from the rotor area. Raise the rotor as slowly as possible.

Engaging the rotor clutch with the drive shaft disconnected from the axle could cause personal injury. Do not engage the rotor clutch during this procedure.

--------WARNING!------

9. Start the engine and slowly raise the rotor assembly off the ground until the axle support brackets (11) are aligned vertically with the mainframe mounting points (12).

10. Stop the engine.

11. If necessary, pull the rotor assembly forward until the axle is in position next to the mainframe mounting point.

12. Bolt the support brackets (11) to the mainframe mounting points (12).

13. Start the engine and lower the rotor assembly until the mainframe is raised off the blocks, then remove the blocks.

14. Raise the rotor assembly until the rear wheels and the rotor assembly are both resting on the ground, then stop the engine.

15. Thoroughly clean around the axle ports and hydraulic hose ends, then connect the hoses (6) to the axle.

16. Raise the drive shaft (4) to the axle flange and install the mounting bolts and nuts.

17. Connect the rotor depth indicator (8) to the axle.

18. If the machine has an optional spray system, install the spraybar.
