RR-250 RECLAIMER & SS-250 SOIL STABILIZER VEHICLE SYSTEMS Rotor Drum

Remove Rotor Drum

1. Raise the rotor door and install the lock.

2. Raise the rotor, securely block up the rotor housing and both chaincases being sure to allow clearance for the rotor to be rotated.

3. If working on an RR-250, unbolt and remove the rotor end rings (1).

4. Otherwise, unbolt and remove the end tools (2) on the rotor drum.

5. Remove the chaincase covers (3).

6. Locate the master link for each drive chain (4), remove the link, then remove the chain from around the lower chaincase sprockets.

7. Rotate the rotor until the opening in the rotor housing disc (5) is aligned with a stub shaft bolt.

------ WARNING! ------

Loosening the stub shaft bolts too much could allow the bolts to fail and the rotor to drop. Personal injury could result. Turn the stub shaft bolts only 1/2 turn counterclockwise to overcome initial torque and resistance.

--------WARNING!------

8. Turn the stub shaft bolt 1/2 turn counterclockwise.

9. Repeat steps 7 and 8 for the remaining stub shaft bolts.

NOTE: An RR-250 stub shaft has 8 bolts and an SS-250 stub shaft has 10 bolts.

10. Start the engine, remove the blocks, and lower the rotor drum onto a skid. Stop the engine.

------ WARNING! ------

If the rotor drum shifts when the stub shaft bolts are removed, personal injury could result. Securely block the rotor drum and ensure that there is no load on the stub shaft bolts.

--------WARNING!------

11. Securely block the front and the rear of the rotor drum to prevent the drum from rolling.

12. Raise or lower the chaincases as needed to remove any load from the stub shaft bolts, then securely block up the chaincases.

13. Remove the stub shaft bolts (6).

14. Turn the spacer tube mounting bolts (7) one turn counterclockwise.

15. Turn the chaincase hub mounting bolts (8) one turn counterclockwise.

16. Attach a lifting device to the rear of the mainframe and a second lifting device to the skid.

NOTE: It may be necessary to pry each chaincase outboard enough to allow the stub shafts to clear the rotor drum.

17. Raise the rear of the mainframe just enough to allow the rotor drum to be pulled from beneath the rotor assembly.

18. Pull the rotor drum and skid from beneath the machine.

19. Lower the rear of the machine.

Install Rotor Drum

1. Attach a lifting device to the rear of the mainframe and a second lifting device to the rotor drum skid.

2. Raise the rear of the machine until there is enough clearance to move the rotor beneath the rotor hood. Pull the rotor drum and skid into position beneath the rotor assembly. Check to ensure that the rotor drum is aligned with both stub shafts.

NOTE: It may be necessary to pry each chaincase outboard enough to allow the stub shafts to clear the rotor drum.

3. Lower the rear of the machine.

4. Tighten the spacer tube mounting bolts (7).

5. Tighten the chaincase hub mounting bolts (8).

NOTE: If the same stub shaft bolts are being reinstalled, lightly lubricate the bolt threads.

4. Install the stub shaft bolts (6).

7. Raise the rotor, securely block up the rotor housing and both chaincases being sure to allow the rotor to be rotated.

8. Rotate the rotor until the opening in the rotor housing disc (5) is aligned with a stub shaft bolt.

9. Tighten the bolt to 875 ± 100 Nm (640 ± 80 lb ft).

10. Repeat steps 8 and 9 for the other stub shaft.

11. Using an alternating pattern between bolts, repeat step 8 through 10 for the remaining stub shaft bolts.

NOTE: An RR-250 stub shaft has 8 bolts and an SS-250 stub shaft has 10 bolts.

12. Recheck the torque on each stub shaft bolt.

13. If working on an RR-250, install the rotor end rings (1).

14. Otherwise, install the end tools (2) on the rotor drum.

15. Start the engine, remove the blocks, and lower the rotor assembly to the ground. Stop the engine.

16. Wrap the drive chain (4) in each chaincase around the lower sprockets and install the master links.

17. Install the chaincase covers (3).

18. Add lubricant as needed to the chaincases.
