Assemble 1st. Stage Carrier Sub-Assembly.
Install internal retaining ring into planet gear bore.

1st stage bearings are matched sets. Keep the spacers with the bearings. Either cone will work with either cup. |
Press bearing cups against the retaining ring.
Install cones and cone spacer into gear.
Place the thrust washer into the C' bore of the carrier.
Place the planet gear into carrier and hold in place.
Push the planet shaft through carrier and planet gear and align hole in pin with slot in carrier housing.
Place lock pin in slot in carrier and planet shaft.
Place lock washer on planet shaft.
Place locknut on planet shaft and torque to 110-150 lb. ft..
Repeat "Assemble 1st Stage Carrier Sub-Assembly" for remaining two planet gears.

Before assembling last planet gear, be sure to install input gear as it will not fit any other way. |
Assemble 2nd Stage Carrier/Cover.
Install retaining ring into planet gear bore.
Place spacer against retaining ring in deep end of planet gear.
Press bearing cup in tight against spacer and retaining ring.
Press bearing cup tight against retaining ring.
Place bearing cones into bearing cups.
Place thrust washer into the C' bore indent in carrier.
Place planet gear into carrier and hold in place.
Install o-ring into planet pin. (Use plenty of grease on o-ring.)
Push planet pin through carrier and planet gear. Align slot in pin with hole in carrier housing.
Place lock pin into slot in carrier and planet pin.
Place lockwasher onto planet pin.
Place locknut onto planet pin.
Tighten locknut until noticeable drag is felt when rolling planet gear and tap planet pin with soft face hammer to insure a proper seat.
Loosen locknut until it has been rotated nearly one full turn on lockwasher.
Bend tang of lockwasher into lockslot of locknut.
Repeat "Assemble 2nd Stage Carrier/Cover" for remaining planet gears.
Hub-Spindle Sub-Assembly
Press studs into hub.
Press bearing cup into hub.
Place bearing cone into bearing cup.
Press seal into hub.
Press bearing cup into hub.
Place washer, spring, washer and retaining ring into spindle.
Place hub onto spindle.
Place internal gear hub into internal gear.
Place lock plates on internal gear.
Use "Loctite 271" on cap screws and install in internal gear.
Torque cap screws to 13-17 lb.-ft..
Lock wire the cap screws in pairs. (Being sure wire does not extend past edge of internal gear outside diameter.)
Heat bearing cone and place on internal gear hub. (Do not exceed 250° on bearing cone.)
Lower internal gear hub and internal gear assembly onto spindle.
Set hub-spindle bearings.
1. Bolt a bar, with a nut welded in the center, across the diameter of the hub. Attach an in.-lbs. torque wrench to the nut to read the rolling torque of the hub assembly. Note the amount of torque required to rotate the hub.
2. Install thrust washer.
3. Install lockwasher.
4. Install locknut with "Loctite 271". (Be sure to wipe excess "Loctite" from locknut when finished.)
5. Tighten locknut on spindle. Repeat rolling torque reading taken in step b. Torque required to rotate hub should increase by 30-50 in.-lbs.. Tap on spindle with a soft face hammer to insure good bearing seat.
6. Bend locktang in locknut. (Tang must be flush with outside diameter of locknut.)
Install pipe plugs into hub using "never seeze".
Final Assembly Of Torque Hub
Place thrust washer on spindle.
Install input shaft.
Lower 1st stage carrier sub-assembly into internal gear and hub assembly and onto the thrust washer.
Install spacer over input shaft.
Install second stage sun gear into carrier.
Install o-ring.
Lower second stage carrier sub-assembly onto hub.

Insure that the pipe plugs in the cover are located 180° from those in hub. |
Install lock washers and cap screws. Torque cap screws to 80-100 in.-ft. lbs..
Install o-ring into cover cap.
Install o-ring onto cover cap.
Install cover cap with two cap screws.
Install disconnect rod.
Install disconnect cap with two cap screws.
Install pipe plugs using "never seeze".
Install retaining ring onto coupling.
Install retaining rings and anti-disc spacer into coupling.
Install coupling into spindle.
