Note: SERVICE DATA: TOOLING (B) WILL NOT BE IDENTIFIED IN PHOTOGRAPHS IN THE REMOVAL OR THE INSTALLATION. THIS TOOLING IS SHOWN IN ORDER TO ASSIST THE EXPERIENCED SERVICEMAN.


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Remove bolts (1) in order to remove shield assembly (2).

  2. Remove fuel filter differential pressure switch (4) from fuel filter base (6).

  3. Disconnect tube assembly (5) and hose assembly (7) from fuel filter base (6).

  4. Use Tooling (A) in order to remove filter assemblies (8).

  5. Remove bolts (3) in order to remove fuel filter base (6).

  1. Install bolts (3) in order to attach fuel filter base (6).

  2. Use Tooling (A) in order to install filter assemblies (8).

  3. Connect tube assembly (5) and hose assembly (7) to fuel filter base (6).

  4. Install fuel filter differential pressure switch (4) to fuel filter base (6). Tighten fuel filter differential pressure switch (4) to a torque of 53 ± 5 N·m (39 ± 4 lb ft).

  5. Install bolts (1) in order to attach shield assembly (2).
