The sight gauge for the transmission oil level and the oil filler tube at ground level will improve access and serviceability. The sight gauge for the transmission oil level and the oil filler tube at ground level are adaptable to S/N:R2900-101 and Up
and R2900 (S/N: 5TW1-UP) by using the following procedure.

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "AVSpare Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in AVSpare machines.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


Procedure:

  1. Install the steering frame lock link. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR4582 (9EL3678), "Steering Frame Lock Link", "Install and Remove Steering Frame Lock Link".

  1. Drain the transmission oil into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for the machine that is being serviced.

  1. Weld 1DE0013 Tapping Block (1) to the rear frame. Refer to Maintenance Manual, RENR4700 (1DE0603), "Machine Repairs and Welding Procedures", "Safety". Refer to Illustration 1.

  1. Install the ground level oil filler tube. Refer to Illustration 4.

  1. Fill the transmission with oil.

  1. Start and run the engine at low idle. Apply the service brakes. Use the right brake pedal only.

  1. Disengage the parking brake. Slowly operate the transmission direction and speed control to circulate the transmission oil.

  1. Move the transmission direction and speed control to the NEUTRAL position. Engage the parking brake.

  1. Maintain the transmission oil level between two marks (37) on the sight gauge when the engine is stopped. Maintain the transmission oil level between two marks (38) on the sight gauge when the engine is running at low idle.

  1. Remove the steering frame lock link. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR4582 (9EL3678), "Steering Frame Lock Link", "Install and Remove Steering Frame Lock Link".
